A cloud POS keeps your items, stock, and the day’s report on an account you can open from a browser or a phone. The counter still bills on a Windows PC or an Android till. If broadband drops during the evening rush, that till keeps selling and syncs when the line returns.
This is the move for a grocery, clothing shop, or pharmacy that is leaving a till which only lives on one PC, or a sales book that only the cashier can read. You do not need to close for a week. You do need a catalog, a stock count, and one quiet hour for training.
What is a cloud POS?
A local-only till stores the sale on that machine. If the PC fails, the stock file fails with it, and a second branch cannot see the first. A cloud POS stores the catalog and the reports on an account. Each counter bills against that account. You can open the same stock from home, and you can move goods between branches with a transfer order.
Riser POS is that account plus the till. Retail plans start at ৳1,000 a month. Installation is a one-time ৳5,000, which includes domain, hosting, and training. There is no self-serve download. Dimdul loads the shop.
Cloud POS compared with a till on one PC
| Question | Till on one PC | Cloud POS with an offline till |
|---|---|---|
| Where is the stock file? | On that computer. | On the account, updated by each sale. |
| Broadband drops | That PC may still bill, and nowhere else can see it. | The Android till keeps billing. Sales sync when the connection returns. |
| A second branch | A second book, then a phone call at night. | Each branch’s stock is on the phone. Transfer orders move goods between them. |
| The PC dies | The day’s file may die with it. | The account still has the catalog and the sales that already synced. |
How to migrate a shop to cloud POS
Do the switch on a morning that is not your peak. Keep the old till in the shop until one full close matches.
- List what moves: item names, prices, opening stock, counters, and branches.
- Put the items in a spreadsheet. Riser POS imports items from a CSV, including large catalogs.
- WhatsApp Dimdul the file, the printer model, and whether you take bKash and Nagad as well as cash.
- Let Dimdul load the cloud account and train the cashiers. A simple shop can be ready in about 30 minutes. A large catalog usually takes 2 to 3 hours.
- Run a test bill: print a receipt, take cash and bKash, and confirm the stock count moved.
- Trade for one full day on the new till. Compare the close with the old system, then retire the old till.
What happens when the internet drops
This is the objection that stops most switches in Bangladesh. Peak hour should not depend on one broadband line. On Riser POS, essential selling continues on the Android till while the connection is down. Those bills sync when the link is back, depending on how Dimdul set up your install. Reports that need the cloud wait. The receipt does not.
Test that once during training, with the router unplugged, before you trust it on a Friday.
More than one branch
After the move, a sale in one shop changes that shop’s stock. A transfer order moves stock to another branch instead of a notebook in the delivery van. From the phone you can see which branch is short before you send the next purchase. Daily Shopping, one of the shops on our success stories page, checks four branches that way after Iftar.
What not to expect on the first day
The first close will feel slow because cashiers are reading a new screen. That is training, not the till. Prices that were “whatever we say at the counter” need a rule before import, or the CSV will freeze last month’s guess. Staff who could void any bill on the old PC need access rights on the new one, or the close will not match the drawer.
Pharmacies follow the same steps, with batch and expiry on the item. Use Riser POS Pharmacy for that counter, not the grocery setup.
Questions shop owners ask
A cloud POS keeps items, stock, and reports on an account you can open from a browser or phone. The counter still bills on a Windows PC or Android till, including when the internet drops.
No. The Android till keeps billing offline. Sales sync when the connection returns, depending on how Dimdul set up the install.
Yes. Each sale updates that branch’s stock, and you can move stock between stores with a transfer order. The phone shows which branch is short.
Send the spreadsheet and the branch count on WhatsApp. If the counter is a kitchen rather than a shop, start with how restaurants cut food waste from the same sales report.
